Codecs

I have some old video clips (Samsung- AVI)and Premier Elements 4 will only recognise the audio.

Which codecs would I need and can I download them free?

(I have no trouble with any of my other video clips.)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried the free software gspot to try to identify the required codec?

Here's another media identifier that I like, MediaInfo. It will identify media that GSpot doesn't. In combination with the debug mode and text mode, you can get quite a bit of information.

Do you know if MediaInfo runs on Vista?



When I looked at http://sourceforge.net/projects/mediainfo/

under the Details tab, it says all 32 bit MS Windows, but then does not have Vista in its list of 95/98/NT/2000/XP

I'm too smart to use Vista.
