Help with Premiere elements 3.0 -...

I have used 3.0 for years. I put this program on another computer that is using window xp. I got to the page to capture video- the smaller screen popps up that has at the top- CAPTURE STOP MOTION



At the bottom of the page is the GET VIDEO and i can not click on it. I have my Dv cable plugged into the camcorder and to the computer. I have uninstalled 3.0 and reinstalled 3.0 Would this problem be that maybe on the computer itself that where i plug in the Dv cable to my computer is not working?

Is Windows recognizing the FireWire connection with a bing-bong sound and an icon of a camcorder on the right side of your task bar?



Does a window pop open, offering to launch a program to capture your video? What programs does it offer?

when i plus the firewire connection into the computer on my cam corder the word dv-in does appear and flashes,



The capture window appears when I click ''get media from'' and I can click capture but I can not click get video. I am not sure if it is the firewire or do i need to buy a new firewire port and install it to my computer? My lap top did not come with a 6 prong wirewire port otherwise I would try it that way

The lack of a Windows recognition of the camera, when plugged in and turned on is often a sign of a bad connection. Rather than a new FireWire card, you might want to try another cable. The larger FW cable is only necessary when you are powering the device. In your case, you will not be, so the FW connector types that are on the camera's cable should work fine - if the cable is good.



Some things to try:



Plugin your camera with out PE running. Turn on your camera (that is when the Windows' ''bing-bong'' should sound). Check the Mode of the camera. Most, though not all, will need to be in the Play Mode. Make sure that yours is in the correct Mode. Consult the camera's manual, just to be certain. Now, launch PE and then Capture.



If no results, do the same, but first launch PE (no Capture yet), then plug in/turn on the camera.



If no results, do the same, but first launch PE AND Capture, then plug in/turn on the camera.



I know it sounds odd, but some cameras/computers need things in a specific order. Trial and error is often the only way to know.



If no results, without PE running, plug in and turn on camera (proper Mode). Go to Control Panel%26gt;System%26gt;Hardware%26gt;Device Manager (for XP - do not know how Vista might differ),and look under SBP2 IEEE 1394 Devices. Does the camera show up there? Look under IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers - do you see any errors? (Camera will not be showing up there). Look up and down the list for the camera. Does it show anywhere?

If you're not hearing the bing-bong or seeing the camcorder icon on your task bar after you've plugged your camcorder into your computer, something is definitely wrong beyond Premiere Elements, Chrissy.



There shouldn't be any flashing either. Once you're connected, Windows should recognize the device, show it on the task bar and offer to launch at least MovieMaker as well as some other programs to capture the video.



I'm not sure what you mean by '' My lap top did not come with a 6 prong wirewire port'', but from a laptop to a camcorder, you generally have a 4-pin to 4-pin FireWire cable connection. (From a desktop computer, it's a 6-pin to 4-pin cable.)
