transition problem

ok i figured out i needed to put the song on soundtrack then i was able to cut it up. now i'm having a hard time finding the right transition.i would like to be able to have one scene fade into the next, not go black but see both scenes at the same time before going into the following scene. probably the simplest transition but i just can't figure it out . any help would be great

You want the cross dissolve transition.
