PE7 - Import 24p video

I have a Canon Vixia HG-21 camcorder and I recorded video in 24p mode. As PE7 does not recognize the camcorder, I import the AVCHD files with the software provided with the camera (ie. Pixela SE) and then get the files into PE7. That being said, while it is 24p, the information on the files in PE7 says 29.97 pfs, which is not the format it was registered in.

Could anyone advise as to how to preserve the native pfs.

You need to use the ''Interpret Footage'' dialog to change the FPS from 29.97 to 24. In PRE7, click on the EDIT tab, then on Project. Right click on the clip in the media bin and select Interpret Footage from the pop-up menu.

Or add a Canon 24p project preset:

Went to the link above but it says these presets are for Premiere Pro, would it work with Premiere Elements ?

Most do.

Yes it does.

Thanks for the 24p preset link. However, I noticed that when using the 24F preset, the image size in the video setting becomes 1440x1080, as opposed to 1920x1080 (btw, I have the HF-10). What effect will it have on my 24p recorded videos?

Please pardon my ignorance, I'm quite a newbie in videography :)

Thank you in advance.

It will not have a big effect, quality will take a hit but I doubt if you will notice it.

1) Create a project with 1920x1080 setting.

2) Import the clips

3) In the project Bin, rightclick on the clip and choose ''Interpret footage''

4) Choose the desired FPS
