I've added a title with a crawling message at the end of my movie project. I want it to begin crawling (L to R) from off the screen and then pause for ''several seconds'' rather than continuing off the right side of the screen. Can anyone advise me on this, please
Make crawling title stop at end of...
I'd advise you to use keyframing to create a motion path.
My free Steve's Tips article at Muvipix.com will show you how.

Make crawling title stop at end of...
I'd do at least two Titles. The first would be the crawl to the middle of the screen. Butted up to it would the a copy of that Title, but static. If you wanted it to then go off screen, you could use a third.
Not sure of the exact settings in PE, and if I gave you the ones for P-Pro, I'm sure that they would be wrong. I'll look at PE and see if I can get the exact settings - also, rather than using an animation preset on the crawl, you can Keyframe its motion, so that it stops exactly where you want it to, and also adjust the speed. Then, all you need are the two ''copies,'' and leave the Effects%26gt;Motion%26gt;Position the same for the end of the first, and not Keyframe the second. Then you are guaranteed that they will match perfectly and that your crawl stops precisely where you want it.

Oops, while I was thinking and typing, Steve was posting! Beat me to it again.

Ha!
I am using PP CS3... that may make a different in what help you offer. THanks!
They should work exactly the same way, John.
Yes John, for complete control, the Keyframing is the way to go.
In PP, create your Title, and place it on whichever Video Track you want. Stretch it to the total Duration that you need. Make sure it's still selected and open the Effects Control Panel. Move the CRT to the spot that you want your Title to become static, twirl down the Motion%26gt;Position and click the Stopwatch to add a Keyframe. Hit PgDn (PageDown) to go back to the start of your Title and add a Keyframe (clicking on the dot in ◄●►. Now, alter the Position (it will be the 240 one for NTSC 4:3) by dragging on the underlined number, to the left. Your Title will move off screen. When satisfied, let go of the mouse button. If you want it to come in from a corner, etc., then also adjust the vertical position (the 360 number) the same way. Rt-click on the first Keyframe and choose Ease Out. Rt-click the second and choose Ease In. If you want the Title to leave the screen, just add another Keyframe at the point that you wish the static position to end, and another at the end of the Title. Hit PgUp, then your left cursor (◄)one time, to move back 1 frame. There is where you'll place your last Keyframe. Do the Rt-click to Ease Out of the Keyframe at the end of the static position, and Ease In on the last Keyframe in the Title.
Good luck,
Hunt
[Edit] To see a smooth playback of this, you will want to move your WAB (Work Area Bar) over the Title and hit Enter to Render.
Gee Thanks Bill...
I'll try it this weekend but it sounds as difficult as brain surgery.
Actually more like baking a pie.
Challenging at first -- but once you see how it's done, it's as easy as ... well, you know.
