Premiere Element 7 Slow?

I have a quad core Q6600 based computer with 2GB of memory and running Windows Vista ultimate.

I have Premiere element 3 and recently downloaded the trial for premiere element 7. When I try to export to MPEG, the Premiere 3 runs on 2 cores of the quad where as version 7 runs on all 4 cores. However, version 7 takes more than twice as much time to encode to MPEG. The MPEG settings and the video content is exactly the same.

Has anyone seen this difference? Does anyone know why it is slow and how this can be improved?

Best Regards

Binu

Premiere Element 7 Slow?
As I am sure Mr. Grisetti is going to ask

%26gt;have you optimized Vista, per the FAQs at the top of this forum?

Premiere Element 7 Slow?
I couldn't have said it better myself, Mr C!

I have not optimized Vista. I will try that. Thanks

However, I should have added. I tested Premiere Element 7 on a Windows XP (SP2) based computer (3GHz with HyperThreading) and it took much longer than Premiere Element 3.

Are there other MPEG2 codecs that can be used?

I'm having speed issues also when exporting to Quicktime (MOV) files. It only uses 40-45% CPU (all 4 cores). If I export to MPEG H264 it uses 90%+. The H264 encodes about 3 times faster.

PS I'm running a Quadcore at 3.3ghz.

I'd recommend you start your own thread, Dave, so we don't get confused, trying to work with both you and Binu at the same time.
