Newbie: Difficulty adding theme. How?...

Hi,

Sorry to ask a dumb newbie question, but how do I add a 15 second Title sequence to my movie?

Here's what I've done so you can explain where I am going wrong...

------------------------------------------------------------------

I have two Video and Audio Tracks so far...

Track 1 is for Starting Title and ending Credit sequence and Track 2 is for main movie.

I have tried dragging my choice of theme (FairyTale) to the start, (as I did in version 4) but it did not work.

I then put a 15 sec clip in Track 1 and dragged the theme on it. It did not work. It just showed the original clip.

I also was confused how I alter the starting length. I presume just split the theme into start and end.

Finally, can I download version 4 themes and save them 'somewhere' and use them as well as version 7 themes?

Thanks guys in advance

Pete

It's very hard to tell what's going on here, Pete. ''Did not work'' doesn't give us much to work with.

When you say you dragged a theme onto a 15 second clip, are you talking about a movie theme? And, if so, have you tried to apply the theme rather than dragging it to the clip?

Steve, did you do a tip for this?

Yes, I did. There's a Steve's Tips in the members area at Muvipix.com called ''Creating An InstantMovie in Premiere Elements 7''.

Hi,

Thanks for responding.

The short clip turned a lighter colour after the Fairy Theme had been dragged on it.

But I guess it would help me if someone could point me to a simple example where I can just make a short movie title sequence.

I got on well with one of the Premiere 4 themes. I think it was called bubbles, but I uninstalled 4 to avoid any likelehood of conflicts between versions.

I'm hopimg someone will say you can use it :-)

Regards

Pete

What happens if you click the Organize tab, select the clip or clips you want to include and click InstantMovie? That should launch and apply the theme.

I also just tried using a Movie Theme on clips that are already on the timeline and it also worked just fine.

Are you:

1) Clicking to selecting the clip or clips on your timeline you want to apply the theme to?

2) Clicking to select a Theme and then clicking the Next button in the lower right corner of the panel?

After you do that, you just follow the prompts and it should work.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for replying. In my haste to get going I had totally missed the 'NEXT' and was trying to do ir all by dragging and dropping.

I followed your insructions and I now have a clip which has has taken elements of the movie and has atitle and ending sequence,

I take it now I just split it as I need to and edit in the whole movie.

Thanks

One last thought - if I want to import Premiere 4 thmes into version 7, is there a FAQ??

Thanks again

I do not think the PRE4 themes are compatable in PRE7. In fact, the ehemes in PRE4 were not nearly as good as they are in PRE7. Why would you want to?

I can definitely tell you that the themes in PRE4 are not compatible with PRE7.

I had two themes that I created myself for PRE4 that I had to rework for PRE7. There's a lot more sophistication in PRE7 themes.

Clicking to select a Theme and then clicking the Next button in the lower right corner of the panel?

I just stated using premiere 7, and after I click theme I want to use , Why I am not able to click next? Please Help.

Thanks

Steve

You have to tell us more about what you're doing, Steve.

Are you creating an InstantMovie or did you select a group of clips that are on your timeline?

In any event, you have to select a group of clips to apply a theme to -- either clips from the Organizer (for an InstantMovie) or a group of clips on your timeline (from the Edit tab).

My Premiere Elements 7 book walks you through the whole process, with pictures.

Thank You Steve G.

VISTA PLATFORM, HPDV9260,Placed 16 minutes of edited clips on time line, audio 1/2,and titles. I burned dvd and everything is ok on DVD.

I tried your suggestions but next button is greyed out, I don't have book. I might have done something wrong as this was my first project on PRE7.

I will try it out short movie.

Thanks

Steve

But have you SELECTED the clips on your timeline before you chose a movie theme? Simply having them there isn't enough.
