Capture from Panasonic NV GS75 (Model...

I have just loaded Elements onto my new Vista machine but can't capture from my Panasonic DV camera. (no Firewire, only USB) No matter what settings I try, the capture window can't ''find'' the camera. On my older machine running Windows XP, I managed by capturing ''on the fly'' (without device driver) Also, is there a reliable, free device driver available for this camera. Any advice would be useful. Thank you

''The ability to download your video straight to your PC via a USB 2.0 connection makes the NV-GS75 an attractive proposition for PC users without a FireWire port. However, if you want to edit your video with a package such as Adobe Premiere Pro, using the camera's FireWire connection would be the way to go.''

.... note the last sentence!

PE will not capture over USB2.

Thanks for the reply. To save brain damage I'll get Firewired. Any ideas on why I was able to capture via USB on my XP computer? Same camera, same Premiere Elements.

Sounds like the dirvers were not updated in Vista.

But as people suggest, if you have firewire capture, its the best.

Since the last posts.... I've purchased firewire and have got the device driver working. (Under capture settings I've got DV and for device control I'vbe selected Panasonic/Generic.) However, when I select preview capture the camera goes offline. If I deselect any previews during capture, the button ''Get video'' does highlight. If I click to capture I get a message ''Driver error''

I downloaded WinDV to capture but I can't find the files. I don't know where they were saved to.

Can anyone please suggest a work around so that I can capture .avi into Premiere Elements on my Vista machine.

Have you ensured that the Audio and Video drivers are updated ?

Yes. I'm running an ATI Radeon HD3450 video card and after checking online, the system tells me it is up to date. Ditto the Realtek High Def Audio. Is there a driver within Vista I should be checking?

I have the same problem - in repsonse to ookken can anyone tell me how to find a list of devices supported by Elements 4.0? I looked on the Adobe site but the link didn't seem to work.

Try as a I might Elements won't seem to recognise my Sony DCR-HC24, even though it shows up in the device manager - and Windows Movie Maker does recognise it. Any ideas enormously gratefully received.

Most internal computer devices will work with the program, Oliver. There's an approved list of hardware, but it's by no means comprehensive.

As for audio connections, use a standard microphone rather than a USB.

And, for camcorders, use a FireWire connection for tape-based cams, like miniDV and HDV. For hard drive and DVD camcorders, use the Media Downloader, as illustrated in the instruction booklet that comes with the software.

Hello everybody.

I have a similar problem. I have a Win XP Pro with Intel Quad, Nvidia Geforce 8600 GT graphic card. I've just replaced on-board audio card from Realtec HD to Asus Xonar DX/XD, but the error exists.

The only way to capture avi from my Sony MiniDV camera (DCR-HC44) via Firewire is to check out both audio boxes or video boxes in Capture settings window (Preview %26amp; Capture section). All drivers are up to date. The problem refers to the both Premiere versions 6 and 7 (I have both).

Any ideas ? I'm completely lost.

You should probably start your own thread with this, Krzysztof, since yours is a whole different issue. In fact, because your problem is with professional (and much older) versions of Premiere, you may want to post to the Pro forum at http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b6cdd7/

Thx for answer, but I forgot to add that my both software version are Premiere Elements too. So I'm in right forum, but may be your suggestion is right.

I win a device control after check out one pair of boxes in capture configuration. I didn't find such problem anywhere in the forum and the knowledgebase. This cannot also be Quicktime issue (I have iTunes, which is updated regularly). No idea at all!

I'm sorry, Krzysztof, I'm not clear what you're doing or what is going on.

I see that you are writing from Poland.
