I am using Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0. A few days ago, I started a project containing .avi files. The project worked fine then. Yesterday, I tried to open the project to finish it and Adobe said, ''Media offline''. I tried to re-add the .avi files but they just show up as audio clips. I need to edit this video before the weekend. Any suggestions?

For some reason it sounds like the codedc for the AVI is no longer installed on your system. What sort of AVIs are they, where did you get the video from? If you are not sure download GSpot and it will tell you codec used for the AVI.

Steve K,
When something works one day, but not the next, it is almost a certainty that something has changed.
This could be the addition of a program that fouls up one's setup. In this case, it could install its own CODC and either overwrite, replace or change the priority of one already on the system. This could also come from a Windows update, whether manually applied, or automatically applied. It could also be simple ''housecleaning,'' if something necessary was deleted.
I am with Paul LS on the CODEC issue, as the symptoms that you manifest are common. Take his advice on G-Spot, as it will tell you two important things: what CODEC is required for both Audio %26amp; Video with your .AVI files, and whether you have them properly installed on your system.
If it reports that you need, for instance, the DivX, or Xvid CODEC, it will give you the specific name. Google will help you find the missing CODEC and you can then install it. Things *should* be back to normal then.
Let us know what G-Spot says about your files, please.
